Testing the soul

We sometimes rip through life

with a jagged edge

Then we get all tangled up

and in a tight wedge

From point to point

in the traveled path

We will feel all things

from love to wrath

A half a century

plus five

Is a droplet in life

to be alive

Must keep my eye and goal

on the picture that’s big

For one day this will end

my body’s gig

If we loose the bad

and keep the good

The hope is the soul

will be all it should

Like fire tests the precious stones

we have inside

The goal is to have a soul that shines

with bounteous pride
